A new Amazon distribution centre in Bristol is about to open
Amazon is making huge steps in the UK in order to improve their service and provide fast and reliable delivery to its UK customers.
One of the steps in this direction is the opening of a new distribution centre in Bristol that has been scheduled for this July.
The representatives of Amazon said that they could have easily consolidated their presence in the UK by simply expanding their existing facilities in the centre of the country, but that would deprive the customers in the remote areas from receiving the same service as those living near these centres.
This is why they decided to open a new centre at the outskirts of Bristol, as this will help them cover a part of the country that was not in the reach of the existing storage facilities.
They are opening a rather large facility that will take 500 thousand square feet and will employ a significant number of people. More specifically, they will be hiring 1000 people to work in this warehouse in different roles, and they are offering quite competitive salaries to them. It is said that they will pay GBP 10.50 per hour for day shifts and GBP 12.25 for the night shifts.
This has already caused a lot of interest amongst the local workforce, so it is to be expected that they will have no trouble manning the new centre. It is scheduled to be open on the July 1st 2019.
