Brown & Gammons MG

Modernising a Trusted Name in Classic MG Parts
The Challenge
Brown & Gammons is one of the UK’s most well-known specialists in MG parts, servicing, restoration and vehicle sales. Through UK MG Parts, the business supplies more than 20,000 genuine and aftermarket components to enthusiasts, collectors and workshops worldwide.
Brown & Gammons faced a significant challenge when their existing ecommerce platform reached end of life, leaving a limited window to migrate to a new solution. With a loyal customer base and decades of trust behind their brand, the ecommerce experience needed to evolve without losing familiarity.
Unlike a traditional online retailer, customers often search by manufacturer part number rather than product name or know how the part they require fits on their vehicle, but not its name or part number, making intuitive product discovery essential.
The new platform needed to preserve the specialist functionality trusted by the classic MG community while modernising the user experience and supporting a catalogue of over 20,000 automotive parts.

Highlighted Functionality
Every aspect of the website was designed around how classic car enthusiasts actually buy parts.
Advanced navigation, faceted search, rich product information, related products, downloadable technical documentation and intelligent product relationships help customers quickly identify the correct component.
The platform also supports superseded products, guiding customers from discontinued part numbers to the latest replacement parts.
Studioworx replicated and modernised a bespoke interactive image mapping system. Similar to the exploded diagrams found in Haynes workshop manuals, customers can explore technical illustrations of individual vehicle assemblies before selecting the exact component they require.
Behind the scenes, Studioworx developed an integration between Magento and the MAM Software Autopart system.
By combining Magento’s flexibility with a robust integration strategy, Brown & Gammons now has a scalable platform capable of supporting future development and continued business growth.

The solution
Studioworx recommended Magento 2, providing the flexibility and scalability required for such a specialist ecommerce operation.
To meet the tight migration deadline, we proposed a phased development approach. Core functionality was prioritised for launch, allowing Brown & Gammons to successfully transition away from their legacy platform while creating a roadmap for ongoing enhancements.
The result is a modern ecommerce platform that retains the trusted experience existing customers expect while providing a stronger foundation for future growth.

Ongoing Partnership
Studioworx continues to work alongside Brown & Gammons through an ongoing programme of support and Phased development, delivering additional functionality and enhancements as the platform evolves.
By combining specialist ecommerce expertise with a phased delivery strategy, Brown & Gammons successfully transitioned from their legacy platform without compromising the experience trusted by their customer community.
