Modernising a heritage fashion brand with a new Shopify ecommerce experience

The Challenge

Adaptor Clothing is the UK’s leading retailer of British subculture clothing. Representing over 60 years of Mod, Skinhead, Rudeboy and Casual fashion, the business has built a loyal customer base by celebrating the heritage, authenticity and style of these influential movements.

After more than 10 years operating on the Volo webstore platform, Adaptor Clothing required a modern ecommerce experience that could better support today’s mobile-first shoppers, improve usability and introduce more flexible payment and customer account functionality.

The challenge was to create a new online store that modernised the shopping experience while retaining the distinctive brand identity and attitude that has made Adaptor Clothing successful.

The Solution

Studioworx designed and developed a new ecommerce store that combined the flexibility and scalability of Shopify with the operational requirements of Adaptor Clothing’s existing systems.

Working closely with the Adaptor Clothing team, we created a refreshed online experience that reflected the brand’s unique character while improving usability across desktop and mobile devices.

Key improvements:

Redesigned navigation structure to improve product discoverability.
Mobile-first design focused on improving the shopping experience.
Enhanced product browsing with filtering and availability information.
Integration with Volo ERP to synchronise products, inventory, customers and orders.
Improved customer accounts with order history, tracking and saved details.
Modern checkout functionality with additional payment options.

The Results

The new Shopify website has provided Adaptor Clothing with a modern ecommerce platform that better represents their brand and supports their customers’ expectations.

Since launch, the improvements to usability, checkout experience and payment options have contributed to an immediate uplift in online performance, with Adaptor Clothing reporting sales increases of 10% following the launch.

The new website has also received excellent feedback from customers. Adaptor Clothing now benefit from a scalable ecommerce platform that can continue to evolve alongside their brand.
